The quiet chirp of birds was what finally brought Vyra to wake up. She was exhausted, sore beyond belief, but she was so incredibly warm...
"Tommie!! Please tell me this is you," she screamed, shoving violently away from the great black wolf she had been cuddling with.
"Chill, Vy," he replied, in a blur shifting back to himself. "I didn't mean to scare you, honest. But you seemed so cold last night."
She couldn't explain it, but she felt her cheeks grow rosy at the thought that he was worried about her. "Wh-where to today?"
"Somewhere safe, I promise. And then we can stop running, and I can tell you everything you want to know. It's another day's journey, but I promise we can rest when we get there."
She yawned, then stretched as mighty as she could. "Ow," she groaned. "I am literally so sore."
"For a sick girl, Vy, you certainly moved quickly yesterday," Tommie snickered. "But you can go horseback today, if you want."
"No way! That's why I'm so sore, stupid." She glared at him as he laughed. "I'm hungry! Where can a sick girl get a bite to eat?"
"On the road!" He laughed. "Let's roll, yeah?"
God help me.
